As a Jackson Hole wedding photographer, I’m happy to share my expertise on how to plan an elopement in Wyoming here. I’ve worked in this industry for over a decade, and I have been to more than my fair share of beautiful elopements for beautiful couples. But I know that for you brides and grooms-to-be, you’re probably not even sure where to start with planning an event like this!
I’d recommend you two sit down for an elopement planning session, and follow this blog step-by-step. You’ll be relieved to know that planning a Wyoming elopement isn’t as hard as you imagine!
Logistics
So first, you must work through the legal logistics of your elopement. If you need the play-by-play for how to plan the sticky stuff, like obtaining your wedding license and locating an officiant, I would refer you right over to my How To Elope in Wyoming blog. Making sure you’ve checked the government boxes is how you ensure you’re really married and not just planning a romantic vacation, ha!
Decide How You Want Your Dream Day to Look
Probably the hardest part of planning is deciding how you actually hope your day will look. You and your partner need to decide and agree on your shared elopement dreams. Are you inviting guests? Throwing in a hike? Would you enjoy a celebration dinner afterward? Visualize how you’ll be happiest together on this important day. Prioritize one or two aspects that matter to you both.
Decide on a Location
Next, and if you haven’t already, pick a location that will really help you fulfill your dreams! As a Jackson Hole elopement photographer, I know TONS of locations that have stunning views! So don’t hesitate to reach out. But also consider ease of access, length of the hike, and the season before you pick a season. (Check out some options here!)
Book Your Vendors
The last part of how to plan an elopement, which many couples agonize over—is booking your vendors! So let’s break it down. Book your officiant and photographer first. You can’t have your elopement without them!! Afterward, book lodging for you and your guests. Then, reserve catering or restaurants, and cake. Then, florals, clothing, and everything else.
Now you know how to plan an elopement! Follow these steps, and you should have a happy planning session. Remember to follow my blog for more great tips on Wyoming elopements, or get in touch with me for personalized help!
