Proposal season is here! It may be the holiday season, but oftentimes that also equates to many many proposals – which I love! I’ve photographed a few proposals in my time as a Jackson Hole photographer. And today we’re breaking down my tips for the perfect proposal prep!
Document it!
This is a big moment in your lives, literally once in a lifetime! So trust me when I say that you will want pictures. And if you think you wont, then your fiance probably will! In addition to having your Jackson Hole photographer captured your perfect proposal, you can also have a session after for engagement photos. These will be great for announcing your engagement, as well as sending with save the dates or invitations.
In addition, reach out to a photographer as early as possible because the good ones book up fast! They can also help bring your vision to life and coordinate the surprise. I have helped with how to get your significant other all dressed up for the surprise, location choice, and all the other little details you may not think about!
Communicate Expectations
If you have certain expectations, communicate those to your partner! Know that subtle hints can be missed. Either tell them plainly what you like or don’t like about proposals, or keep your expectations open to just enjoy however your moment unfolds. A lot of couples I work with want the perfect photo, but I suggest that in the moment, don’t even think about it! Just live for the emotions and candid moments, then I can stage you for that perfect shot later!
It Takes A Tribe!
Just like many things in life, it takes a tribe to pull off the perfect proposal! Not only should you work with your photographer, but also consider talking to your significant others siblings or best friends. Just as I have a photography perspective for proposals, their friends and family will have a personal perspective. They will know what they will appreciate most and maybe even have a few details for the moment that you may not think of.
