As a Utah elopement photographer I have captured countless weddings and elopements. And no matter the size or type of wedding, one thing is for sure. You will want to remember every moment! Your wedding photos should tell the story of your wedding day, from start to finish. That is why I always suggest Elopement Getting Ready Photos!
Why Have Elopement Getting Ready Photos
This is the day you have been dreaming of since you were a little girl. Today is no ordinary day, there are so many special moments that happen before you walk down the aisle! The giddy feelings of excitement and nervousness as you slip into your wedding dress. The precious moments with your mom as she helps you put on the heirloom necklace that has been passed down for generations. The thrill of getting together with your girlfriends to toast your final hours of singleness… There are so many things that happen before you say I-Do and you will want to have them documented so you can remember these moments forever!
TIP #1 – Location For Your Utah Elopement
With everything you have to coordinate, the getting ready room sometimes becomes an afterthought. Do NOT let this happen! Make it a priority to have a great room with plenty of natural light, a big mirror, and large enough that it doesn’t end up totally cluttered. This will make it possible to get beautiful images as well as create a calming space for you… and trust me, you will want a little calm in your day!
Often times wedding venues have bridal suites specifically for this elopement getting ready photos. As you are shopping around for the perfect place, ask what options are available.
TIP #2 – Clean & Decluttered
After I get ready in the morning my bathroom looks like a war zone, and that’s just me! Add in all of your bridesmaids, mother, and whoever else that will be using the room, the clutter will add up FAST. Let everyone know that you want to keep the room as clean as possible and set aside a corner or wall space that will be just for photos. Tuck those suitcases under the bed, hide everything that doesn’t match your wedding theme in a closet and tidy up after yourself as you go. I like to take down pictures on the wall and put away any lamps and decor because with getting ready photos, less is definitely MORE
TIP #3 – Detail Shots
Along with the getting ready moments that we will capture, this is a great time to document all the details. Write down a list of wedding details you want photographed. To give you an idea, these are some common requests I get from my brides.
- Shoes
- Rings
- Dress with special hanger
- Wedding dress details of lace or beading
- Veil Trimming
- Garter
- Perfume Bottle
- Jewelry
- Vows
- Wedding Invitation
- The “Something Old, Borrowed & Blue”
These are just some ideas, make it your own! Think about the things that hold meaning to you or will be special to your future daughter.
