Getting to know you and your story is possibly the best part of being a northern Utah wedding photographer! Your love story is unique and timeless, which deserves to be documented. But every once in a while I get the privilege of photographing someone I know and love! Most recently I got to capture my brother-in-law and his fiancé at their Antelope Island engagement session, and you wont believe how perfect their photos turned out!
Jared & Jean
I’m really excited for May 10th because I’m getting a new sister! Jared is my brother-in-law and I have the honor of photographing his wedding day with Jean. Growing up as the only girl has given me a longing for a sisterly bond. When Jared introduced us to Jean I instantly connected with her! We have a lot of the same interests and I just clicked with her personality. She is also a strong, smart, independent woman with a kind heart. I selfishly prayed that Jared would fall in love with her and make Jean my sister! And now here we are, preparing for their wedding day, but before that we had to have an engagement session!
Jared and Jean met at Utah State University while working in virology lab. They share the love of all living things and enjoy learning about plants and animals. Jared asked Jean to be his eternal companion near the young larch tree where they often went to study. Talk about romantic!
When couples ask me where they should have their photos taken I first ask if there is a place that has any special meaning to them. The more meaning you add to a significant event the more sentimental it becomes. You will love your photos that much more if you are in a place that you love!
Before this sweet Antelope Island engagement session, Jared and Jean knew each other for a few years before the sparks began. I think that is so awesome! To have time to connect as friends and learn about each other in that way before romantic feelings begin is a special gift. You get to know more of each other’s life story and their fun quirks. Jared is always pointing out interesting insects and plants to impart fascinating facts to those around him. So naturally this photo made it into their album.
Antelope Island
Jared and Jean chose to have their engagement photos taken Antelope Island State Park because of the mutual love of the place! And there is so much to love about this location. The desert landscape is warm and dreamy with pops of brush. It really is a beautiful place! I especially love the giant boulders and bison that add such a stunning touch to the desert floors.
Jared worked on the Island during the past summer for a field study project. He and Jean visited Antelope Island to explore one day and fell in love with the beautiful desert landscape! It became a special place for the two of them to take adventures, and I am grateful that I got to be with them this time to capture such pure love! This Antelope Island engagement session was all the more special because of their history here.
Gorgeous Light
When it comes to natural light, weather makes all the difference. We were beyond blessed with fantastic weather! The combination of big puffy white clouds and warm sunshine gave the most perfect light for portraits in the desert. Then, as if it couldn’t get any better there was some stormy weather lingering on the sidelines. It was a wonderful combination that gave the best contrast!
Towards the end of their Antelope Island engagement session the clouds gave us the most amazing sunset with vibrant orange hues. The light added a fun element to each image, giving this couple a variety of incredible portraits. One of my favorite engagement photos was when Jared twirled Jean around to dance in the dawn light. It was such a tender moment that deserved to be captured.
Capturing these sweet moments in a way that tells your love story is what I am passionate about! I want you to have gorgeous photos that are worthy to hang on your walls forever. I can’t wait for your engagement session, and especially your wedding day! Let’s connect and talk about what your dream is for your engagement and wedding day photos!
Congratulations Jared & Jean. I’m more excited than you could ever know!
