What’s An Extended Wedding Photo Session?

As a Jackson Hole wedding photographer I love when my couples chose to have an extended wedding photo session! By adding a few extra hours of photography before or after your wedding day you will be able to take advantage of the best lighting and receive so many more images, but more importantly more special moments. That is exactly what John and Yi opted for in their Lost Creek Ranch wedding! And their experience made it totally worth it.

Extended Wedding Photo Session

An extended wedding photo session is a way to add on to your wedding day in the best way possible! We adventure through Jackson Hole and The Grand Tetons for some amazing experiences as well as capturing your love story as husband and wife.

This can be done the day before or after your wedding, if you don’t want to take any time away from the party. Traditionally photographers will sneak off with the couple during cocktail hour for a portrait session. This can be a great option, but some couples don’t like to miss out on their party for photos.

The other reason I love adding a session on another day is to have the freedom to choose the perfect lighting that allows us to get those epic images with you and the landscape. The soft light of sunrise or sunset really makes the biggest difference in your photos so I always advise my couples to prioritze some time for photos during one of those times.

Your wedding day can be packed with meaningful and fun moments that you don’t want to miss. This is why I offer extended session options for my couples.

Option 1: Road-tripping

Take 2-3 hours with me as we road trip through the National Park for the wedding photos of your dreams! I have lived here and explored these mountains for years, I know Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons like the back of my hand! With that knowledge I essentially give you a personal guided tour of the park during our session. We get out at your favorite spots, explore and capture one of a kind wedding images!

Option 2: Hiking

If you are an adventurous and outdoorsy couple, then this may just be the option for you! Together we will decide on a location that fits your wedding vision best. Then we will hike to that beautiful destination location to capture your love story! There are so many amazing hikes in the Tetons and Jackson Hole that lead to stunning views. You will not regret exploring to those locations for your extended wedding photo session!

Option 3: Full Day Adventure

This extended wedding photo session option may be the most fun! Together we take the entire day hiking through the Grand Tetons to one of the most incredible backdrops that many park visitors never see. Have your first look in a meadow, say your vows on a mountain top, and finish the day off with bridals in the river. Seriously, there is so much that can be done when you dedicate the entire day to your wedding photos!

John & Yi’s Extended Wedding Photo Session

So many of my couples come from out of state for a destination wedding in Jackson Hole. And John and Yi were no exception! They came all the way from New York City to the Tetons to tie the knot. And I am so glad they did. It was such a pleasure to get to know them and spend an entire day capturing their love!

Lost Creek Ranch Wedding

John loves the outdoors and Yi adores getting pampered and relaxation. So Lost Creek Ranch in Jackson Hole was the perfect spot for them! John had been to the Tetons for winter skiing in the past and told Yi it was the most beautiful place on earth. However, they were looking for a location that they could bring all of their family and friends for an all inclusive destination wedding trip. And lucky for them, Lost Creek Ranch was just that!

Having a Lost Creek Ranch wedding provided John and Yi with dramatic views, gorgeous western landscapes and the all inclusive venue of their dreams! They were able to have 40 guests stay for the weekend as they had the wedding bash of the year! They all got to ride horses, full access to the spa and pool, and go on many excursions including hiking, biking, rafting and so much more. Having a Lost Creek Ranch wedding made John and Yi’s wedding dreams come true!

Wedding Photos

John and Yi booked me for the entire day of their wedding, which I highly recommend! From getting ready the morning of your wedding to your grand send off at the end of the day. There are so many special moments that you will want captured and displayed. When you have all those little details and memories throughout your wedding album they truly tell the story of your wedding and your love.

We started the day with getting ready photos. Yi and her bridesmaids were in the spa getting their hair and makeup done. And all the men got ready in a cabin on the property. During that time I got to snap a few detail shots of Yi’s dress and shoes, as well as both the bride and groom getting ready.

The ceremony was absolutely stunning with outstanding views of the Tetons. Yi rode in on a horse drawn wagon, which added so much elegance and magic to the moment. It was perfect for Yi in every way! And the ceremony itself did not disappoint. With tender moments as Yi’s best friend officiated their marriage, I was so glad that we were able to capture those emotions.

Wedding Day Photo Session

After their ceremony Yi and John got the opportunity to take photos with a horse provided by Lost Creek Ranch. Yi loves horses, so this was such a special moment for her! As well as creating gorgeous moments that captured the magic of their wedding day perfectly.

Then they had a beautiful reception dinner full of laughter as their family toasted to their new marriage. They celebrated with their close friends and family through the night with a dance party and drinks around the fire. This party is something they didn’t want to miss a second of!

Extended Photo Session

John and Yi opted to have their extended wedding photo session at sunset the day after their wedding so they could get more of that perfect lighting. We drove to Schwabacher Landing for their main portrait session and were able to capture absolutely stunning images

Capturing John and Yi’s wedding day was such an honor! The entire day was a party, and full of beautiful moments. I love getting to be a part of such wonderful memories and capturing them all. Are you ready to start planning your Jackson Hole wedding? Reach out and let’s plan it together!
