Snow On Your Wedding Day In Jackson Hole

As you can guess, a snowy elopement takes a little more planning – that’s where I come in! I have been photographing weddings and elopements in Grand Teton National Park for years now. In that time I’ve learned a thing or two about snowy nuptials! So, if it is forecasted to snow I will help you prepare and know what to expect. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Timing

Weather is hard to predict, but for the Teton area you can start anticipating snow at the end of October – the beginning of November. Personally, I love the first snow of the year when it’s not too deep to walk through. Between December-March the snow starts to get deep and we will want to stick to the roadways and the few packed trails near the road. These location will still give up the backdrop of the Tetons, but will have less of an adventure to get to.

Footwear

As you can imagine, a snowy elopement isn’t the time to be wearing sandals, heels, ballet flats, etc. You will want to come prepared to walk in the snow and stay warm! Consider tall insulated boots, long cozy socks, and even leggings under your gown. Layering under your wedding attire will allow you to spend more time in the park and capture more memories together.

Expectations

For many couples, when they think of the Tetons they imagine a view of the iconic mountain range. During the snowy months, there is a 50% chance that the mountain peaks will be in the clouds. For those cloudy days, I love going into the snowy pine areas. Being flexible with locations and content with whatever weather we are given will help you have the best day. We really can create beautiful photos in any weather!

You can have a stunning snowy wedding, it just takes a little more planning to make your dreams come true! Thinking of embracing the winter with Snow On Your Wedding Day in Jackson Hole? Reach out at see what winter dates I have available!
