Best Places To Elope In The US

As an elopement photographer, I get to visit some of the most beautiful National Parks in the West. Each with its own unique charm and beauty. So today, I am sharing the two best places to elope in the US for couples who want stunning backdrops, a little adventure and a once in a life time experience.

Grand Teton Elopement

I have captured dozens of elopements and weddings in the Tetons, and let me tell you, this is a National Park that feels almost magical! With its jagged mountain peaks, pristine alpine lakes, and expansive meadows, the Grand Tetons offer an unrivaled backdrop that makes every moment feel epic! Picture exchanging vows as the first light of dawn spills over the peaks, or sharing your first dance under a sky blanketed with stars. It’s truly an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime. Here are a few of my favorite spots for an elopement:

Signal Mountain

Lush woods, wildflowers, and totally secluded. Consider Signal Mountain for your elopement if this sounds like a dream for you! At the top of a winding road in the Tetons you will find Signal Mountain. It has a great view of the valley below, as well as Mt. Moran and Jackson Lake. In addition, it offers a forested area of tall lodgepole pines. Plus, during the early summer the hills are covered in wildflowers!

Cathedral Turnout

This location is so dreamy, especially at sunset! It features the grandeur of the West with open range filled with sagebrush and stunning views of the Tetons. Plus, it is super easy to access with a parking area that is right off the field of sage, as well as a more private location in a grove of trees.

Colter Bay Swim Beach

If you want a more coastal vibe, but in the mountains, this location is for you! The rocky beach leads to a large lake surrounded by tall willows. And in the distance you can easily spot the Tetons on a clear day! The nearby woods offer walking paths which add to the variety of backdrops you will get in this location. Definitely one of the best places to elope in the US!

Schwabacher Landing

One of the best spots for a ceremony is Schwabacher Landing, where the iconic reflection of the Tetons is mirrored in the Snake River. It’s a breathtaking setting that works perfectly for intimate ceremonies or elopements. If you’re up for a bit of adventure, consider hiking to Taggart Lake or Jenny Lake. Both locations provide stunning, secluded spots where you can say “I do” away from the crowds.

Moab Elopement

The second of the best places to elope in the US is in Moab, Utah. In my opinion, Moab is other-worldly. It feels like you have walked onto another planet with its red rocks, desert foliage, and clear skies. As ethereal as this location is, it makes for some of the best elopement photos I have ever taken! As well as some of the best experiences my couples have ever had. Here are a few amazing spots for your elopement:

The Windows

This is a classic Moab elopement location that deserves all the love it gets! Known for its dramatic rock formations and stunning natural arches, this area is ideal for couples looking to elope amidst some of the most unique landscapes in the Southwest. As the sun rises or sets, the red rock formations glow with warm hues, making it an unforgettable experience for any couple. Truly, magical!

Panorama Viewpoint

Looking for the best views and seating for wedding guests? Panorama Viewpoint may just be the perfect location for your elopement! This site has stone benches for seating and is right off of a parking lot, which makes it very accessible for everyone. In addition, no matter where you turn, you will have a stunning view of the desert, and even far off mountains.

Sand Dune Arch

What makes Moab one of the best places to elope in the US has to be the many arches in a variety of locations throughout the park. One spot I keep finding myself returning to is Sand Dune Arch. I love this location because of the soft, cool sand and the hidden arches that you can only find by hiking into the red rocks. This spot feels secluded and romantic, perfect for an elopement!

Dead Horse State Park

This state park offers stunning aerial views of the winding Colorado River and the valley below. It is truly an iconic location and just 45 minutes from Moab, so I had to include it! The scenery is outstanding, with canyons featuring layers of rocks and sediments. A rainbow of desert colors that take my breath away every time!
