Utah Engagement Photos

Recently, I was able to capture some Utah engagement photos, and our session reminded me how rich this state is in natural beauty. Utah has everything from dynamic rock features to powerful forests, so it’s a great way to show off your love and your personality in your portraits. And as a Utah elopement photographer who normally serves Arches National Park and Moab, I really liked the change of pace in these mountains!

If you’re planning on taking engagement photos in Utah, here are some backdrops you just can’t miss.

Trails for Utah Engagement Photos

In Utah, there is no shortage of beautiful hiking trails, and I never regret photographing one. Trails are easily accessible for both couples and photographers, which make them great spots for your session. Plus, hiking together and pausing for candid moments along the way can make for a memorable and meaningful experience.

Riverbeds

When you think of Utah, you probably don’t think of rivers! But Utah is home to a lot of beautiful rivers, like the Provo River and the Sevier River. In spring, snow runoff flows into smaller creeks, so they aren’t unusual to find in the landscape.

As a Utah elopement photographer, I really love finding riverbeds and creeks for the backdrop of your engagement photos. Water can be both reflective and romantic, so it adds dimension to your portraits. Plus, the colors and textures of river rock can be a fun break from the greenery.

Mountains as a Backdrop for Utah Engagement Photos

And, of course, the Utah mountains are so iconic. Many couples like the feeling of security and intimacy conveyed by mountains, and every mountain is unique in the silhouette it provides.

From the perspective of a Utah engagement photographer, mountains and valleys add visual interest to portraits without taking focus away from the couple. For that reason, they look great as Save the Date cards or e-announcements, and I try to grab mountain portraits wherever I can.
