Nine times out of ten, when I capture a wedding as a Utah elopement photographer, I am in Moab or Arches National Park. However, every once in a while I have the privilege of capturing an LDS temple wedding. And although you cannot go into the temple to take wedding photos, because of the sacred nature of the ceremony. You can have gorgeous photos outside of the building on the temple’s grounds. Here are just a few of the reasons I love photographing at Logan Utah’s temple featuring Yosef and Mikelle’s stunning wedding photos!
Logan Utah Temple History
There is so much to love about the temple itself and the grounds. But I have to start with the history of the building. This temple was completed in 1884 and took 7 years to build with more than 25,000 people working on the building! And if that amazed you like it did me, then you will definitely be impressed with this. Timber for the building was hauled from Logan canyon, and the quartz and lime in the building from Green canyon. With most of the materials for the temple being extracted during the winter months, the majority of them were transported by sled!
LDS Temple Wedding Photos
One of my favorites spots to capture my couples at the Logan Temple is at the front of the edifice. Not only is this a classic shot, but it also allows me to show off. the beauty of the building itself! And lucky for us, the sun was in the perfect position for Yosef and Mikelle’s photos, shining through the trees casting a gorgeous shadow.
The Reflecting Pool
At the front of the temple there is a reflecting pool that makes for unique wedding pictures! I had my darling couple stand between the temple and the pool to capture both as the subject. I also love what this does with for lighting, it is such a cool feature of this temple!
Garden Florals
If you visit the Logan temple in spring and summer (even the beginning of fall!) you will be dazzled by the beauty of the florals! The gardens have a variety of both annual wild flowers and perennials native to the area. Mikelle’s bouquet looked absolutely perfect next to the garden’s flowers with its bright hues!
The Lawn
Get a little further away from the temple and explore even more of the gardens! With little nooks featuring benches for two, to quiet paths for strolling. Not only will you be able to capture a new angle of the temple. But you will also have the opportunity for a sacred moment together.
I could go on all day on why I love this LDS Temple Wedding! And although I don’t capture temple weddings often as a Utah elopement photographer. I do love the opportunity when it arises!
