Grand Tetons Elopement and Mormon Row

Would you drive across the country just to be married in the Tetons? It is such a beautiful location to say your vows, and promise to be each others forever. That is exactly what this couple did for their Grand Tetons elopement! And I feel so honored that they chose me to capture it all. It was one of the most relaxed and beautiful weddings I have ever shot!

Kurt & Kate

Kurt and Kate are high school sweethearts from Arkansas and were beyond ready to tie the knot! They had dated all throughout high school and were so excited to be married that they drove out to the Tetons as soon as they could. But why go all the way to the Grand Tetons to get married?

Growing up, Kurt and his family frequently visited Yellowstone to go skiing in the winter. When he told Kate how stunning the location was they decided that it would be the perfect place to be married! Kurt and Kate had always wanted to go out west together, and what better time to go?! They took an epic road trip as a honeymoon right before their Grand Tetons elopement. Which is extremely impressive considering that Kate was 20 weeks pregnant at the time!

First Look

Kate wore a beautiful bohemian lace wedding dress with flared sleeves for her Grand Teton Elopement. It was such a stunning gown and she looked amazing in it! When Kurt turned around to see her for the first time it was such a tender moment. Kurt had tears in his eyes as he looked at his bride, and the future mother of his child. Just by the way they looked at each other you could tell that this was true love.

After having their first look we hiked up this hillside to get the perfect view for their ceremony. The weather was absolutely perfect! There was a little bit of a smoky haze in the air, which created a really pretty lighting for the images. I love how the weather and elements effect the lighting and makes for totally different images.

My husband officiated their wedding, which is always such a treat! It was especially meaningful because ever since we first made contact with these high school sweethearts we had been helping them plan and execute their Grand Tetons elopement. Kate and Kurt were both super excited to be married and start their little family together, and honestly I felt blessed to be a part of that!

Mormon Row

We headed over to Mormon Row to get some bridals next! Mormon Row is an old historic piece of property that is unique in the Tetons. Generations ago Mormon settlers used this land to live and farm on. Because the land has been plowed and cultivated it is essentially just a large grass field today. Which is unique, as most of the landscaping in this area is full of sage brush. The land and the beautiful barns were donated to the National Park as a historic site.

It was a beautifully simple Grand Tetons elopement. Kate and Kurt have such a special place in my heart and I thoroughly enjoyed capturing their love story in one on my favorite places in the world! Because they travelled from Arkansas for their elopement, I felt especially honored to be their wedding photographer. No matter where you live, come out to Yellowstone and let’s connect for your wedding day photos!
